NORTHOLT NEWS No. 3
IMPORTANT: WE NEED TO TAKE ACTION NOW

Dear Resident,
We are sure you will be aware that Harrow Council has suspended the start of the major works on Petts Hill Bridge for two months while they try and negotiate funding for complete bridge replacement. We believe that we should now make every effort to support Harrow and to this end we are:

1. Arranging a NORTHOLT QUESTION TIME at PETTS HILL PRIMARY SCHOOL
NEWMARKET AVENUE ON THURSDAY 21ST APRIL STARTING AT 8.00 PM.
Invited guests include: Tony Mc Nulty MP Harrow East & Senior Transport Minister, Steve Pound MP (Ealing North) Gareth Thomas MP Harrow West, Leaders of Ealing & Harrow Councils, Ward Councillors: Roxeth, North Greenford and Mandeville Wards, The Metropolitan Police. Prospective Parliamentary Candidates for Ealing North.

Questions from the floor on any Community Matter affecting Northolt

2. Collecting signatures on a petition to Harrow Council fully supporting their negotiations and making it quite clear that there will be NO UNDERPASSES AT PETTS HILL BRIDGE

WE NEED YOUR HELP: 1. COME TO THE MEETING AND EXPRESS YOUR CONCERNS AND ASK YOUR QUESTIONS
2. HELP US COLLECT SIGNATURES FOR THE PETITION
(FORMS FROM THE ABOVE ADDRESS OR BY EMAIL AS ABOVE OR FROM THE BRIDGE WEBSITE)

We are sorry that this is the first Northolt News for a while but would assure you that we have been very busy on your behalf in relation to the Bridge Project. We have attended every possible Council meeting at Harrow and Ealing and made representations. We have made and had accepted two formal complaints to the Local Government Ombudsman regarding the whole process of the project. As well as this the Audit Commission is investigating our complaint about the financial aspects of best value. Also we are pursuing the problem of residents receiving penalty notices through entering the bus lanes to get to their homes. The use of soil from cemeteries to stop vehicles mounting the grass verges. Road rage of drivers waiting to go through the diversion. The lack of pedestrian assistance to cross Petts Hill. Our biggest hurdle has been getting a response from Network Rail who own the bridge, now that we have they say its good for another 10-20 years (have a look at the brickwork) and do not see why they should contribute anything other than a coat of paint on the existing bridge.

Despite all this we believe there is still a chance of complete bridge replacement but we need to show those concerned our support for this

So Please Please come to the meeting and help us with the petition
